Baby Shower #1 and more

On Dec 5th, my sister-in-law Andrea and I were given our first baby shower.  Andrea is due 3 weeks before I am, so my family and some very close friends of the family threw us a shower together.  Pictures will be up as soon as we go in for Christmas and we get the CD they are on!  We had a wonderful turnout with a ton of people showing up!  Oh, and Christopher received so many nice gifts.  I cannot wait until he is here so I can start using everything!  He received all different kinds of items: clothing, bathing, toys, organizer (well more for Stephen and I than him), diapers, bags, etc.  This shower got us even more excited about him arriving and we really can't wait!  There are going to be around 2 more showers thrown.  Stephen's side of the family is throwing one in January and our dear friends in Houston are throwing us one in early February.  We know that he will be set for everything he needs from these showers.  And we are so grateful to everyone who is throwing us a shower and who has thrown us a shower!  We cannot wait until we get his room completely put together and I can really see what we have from the shower.
And speaking of getting his room put together, Stephen and his brother Eric ripped up the carpet in Christopher's room last night.  Stephen and I are getting new carpet on Monday 12/27.  You can say it is a late Christmas present for us :)  They also get to rip of the carpet in the guest room, the living room, and our bedroom tonight and tomorrow.  Once we have the new carpet, Stephen will be able to put Christopher's furniture into the room!  This is something we have been looking forward to since we bought the furniture a couple of months ago.  Oh, and Stephen will be happy to have the garage back to normal.
Besides getting new carpet, Eric and Julie have found themselves a house close to us!  They will close tomorrow 12/23 and move their belongings down here on 12/26.  You can say it is a wonderful Christmas present for them too!  I really won't know what to do without all of them in our house anymore.  It is very fun to come home and be welcomed by Benjamin and his smiling face.  I guess we will just have to stop by their house more often, which is something we have been looking forward to since we learned they would be moving to Clear Lake.  I know I am still getting used to having family down here; it just hasn't really sunken in that we will finally have family living in the same city.  It has been and will be a very nice change for us.
I have had another doctor appointment this week to check on Christopher.  Stephen was able to go with me, so he got to hear Christopher's heartbeat for the first time without it being on an ultrasound machine.  We also learned that we will have another ultrasound on Wednesday 1/5.  We are looking forward to seeing how big Christopher has gotten and his actual size!  I am also looking forward to seeing how he is positioned so I know what I am feeling when he is moving around.  I am also feeling him move around now.  And trust me, he is a mover!  I can also tell where he is usually sitting, when he kicks/punches me, and when he is in my ribs or on my bladder.  Those two spots seem to be his favorites.  And I can say, we are going to have our hands full when he gets here, if he keeps up this moving around!  Stephen was also able to feel him kick for the first time a couple of weeks ago.  It is nice that Stephen gets to experience all of this with me!
Astro and Luna are doing great!  They are getting used to having a 2.5 year old around and I think will be disappointed when Benjamin isn't there to play with them every day.  But Christopher will be here before we know it and they will have fun getting used to the "Little Brother".  Astro and Luna are also looking forward to Santa Paws coming to visit them again this year.  And I know they will be pleasantly happy with their rewards for being good this year :)
Well with Christmas just a few days away - we hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year!
